  1. I was the camp's enginear,I look back on those times as a wonderful time. I remember all those nights at the disco ,with the last night of the week playing Leaving on a jet plane.
Does anyone remember the water ski crowd which was based down at the river ?

  3. I was a truck driver mid 70's. There might be a few days off in-between driving the three and five day safaris and other driving jobs, you got fed up with the 'Night in Tangier' trip. The Disco played 'In the summer time' by Mungo Jerry and music from the Woodstock LP - Arlo Guthrie 'Coming into Los Angeles.' The second line 'Bringing in a couple of Keys' was a mystery, then found out 20 odd years later a Key was a Kilo of magic dust. the DJ (the first) name not known or forgotten wore a big brown leather hat and maybe leather trousers. One night David Northeast one of the founders of Safari who had been on a recreational visit staggered into the Disco with blood pouring from his head, someone had taken a swipe at him in the dark, an unhappy punter? "Get all the Drivers and find who did this!" the Perp. remained a mystery. Mike Harris

  4. I was a punter in 1970 and spent some time with David Northeast. My two abiding memories are of being taken into Tangier to meet his lawyer, because I spoke fluent French, and then onto a gay disco. What a night! Ignore my profile name, which I don't seem to be able to get rid of, and contact me through www.maggiecobbett.co.uk if you'd like more details.
