  1. Hello again, the narrative continues after the 'First' SAFARI brochure that Bob Friendship posted on his Blog and as an ex-Truck Driver adding my comments. I would like to continue the 'story' from my perspective.
The advertised Two week Safaris were a few days to Fez with some sight seeing and mostly uneventful.
The longer Safaris where Gruelling, I never saw a Punter return from a five day Safari that didn't look like a survivor from Dunkirk. Sun stroke, poor hygiene and sanitation, diarrhoea, Hours being driven on dusty roads in the 'relentless' sun, Truck breakdowns, confusion caused by the deviation from the advertised route, the times someone has waved a brochure at me and shouted "we are going the wrong way". We were given a set route to follow and we had to keep to it, a Truck broken down or out of water stuck incommunicado in the Sahara Desert was to be avoided. However - waiting for sleep while watching the shooting stars in the pure night sky. Exploring the souks of Tangier, Marrakech and Fes, the drive on a single track road over the High Atlas Mountains made the privations insignificant.

In the end SAFARI finished and the BASE CAMP became SAFARI VILLAGE with hut accommodation. When you put a large group of twenty something Boys and Girls together with booze Discos, Sun and Sea, Golden beaches and Camel rides, one way or another they are going to have unforgettable fun. Life time memories - some often finding future Wives and Husbands.
After Safari village came CAMP AFRICA situated nearer to Asilah and that had a good run till 1983 and thus ended the Asilah experience. Amen.
